Have you heard much about the Constitution from any of the presidential canditates? I haven't. Has anybody questioned them about their understanding of the Constitution? If so, please direct me to it because I would like to know what they think about that fine document.
We've heard about health care, tax cuts for the rich, gas prices, wages, race, Iraq, hope, change and who is a bigger liar thousands of times. We'll hear all that and more from now until November. It's getting old.
I know, if you're a liberal you think conservatives are a bunch of idiots that lack the intellect to understand the Constitution. I say that's bunk. If you can read you can understand what they wrote. Maybe we are just so honest that we are incapable of twisting logic in order to read into the Constitution what isn't there.
Politicians for years have passed unconstitutional legislation, over and over again. Does that make it right? If people do the wrong thing over and over, does that mean the next guy should do more wrong things? I don't think so.
In his piece titled Political Loathsomeness, Walter Williams said we should replace the oath of office with "I accept the office of president". That pretty well sums up the current political atmosphere.

Nitwit Democrats Strike Again
Senators Clinton and Obama are both on the record against the new trade deal being worked out with our South American ally, Columbia. They plan to vote against it so they can keep the unions happy.
This is another example of stupid democrats being stupid just to get votes. What on earth could they have against this deal?
This is a good deal. It helps US companies and the US economy. Senators Obama and Clinton are going to stick their thumbs in the eye of a strong US ally for what? For votes, that's what. That's all they care about. They couldn't care less about the US economy or a US ally.
Obama is calling for talks with Iran, you know, the same ones who are keeping busy expanding their uranium enrichment capabilities. The same ones who want to wipe Israel off of the map. The same ones arming terrorists that are killing our military. That's who Obama wants to talk to.
But the Columbians, an ally that is up against the likes of Hugo Chavez, he'll sell them down the river for a few votes.

The primary impact of the U.S.-Colombia TPA will be increased U.S. exports to Colombia as a result of enhanced U.S. access to the Colombian market. U.S. imports from Colombia are not expected to grow significantly as a result of trade liberalization under the TPA because most Colombian products already enter the U.S. market free of duty. In 2005, approximately 90 percent of the value of U.S. imports from Colombia entered free of duty either unconditionally or under the Andean Trade Preference Act (ATPA) or other U.S. provisions. Nevertheless, by making ATPA duty-free treatment permanent, the TPA could create additional incentives for investment in export-oriented industries in Colombia. Click here for the full report.

This Guy Wants to be President?!
I found an article on the Huffington Post (don't ask) about a speech Senator Obama gave in San Francisco over the weekend.
Last night at a fundraiser in San Francisco, Barack Obama took a question on what he's looking for in a running mate. "I would like somebody who knows about a bunch of stuff that I'm not as expert on," he said, and then he was off and running. "I think a lot of people assume that might be some sort of military thing to make me look more Commander-in-Chief-like. Ironically, this is an area--foreign policy is the area where I am probably most confident that I know more and understand the world better than Senator Clinton or Senator McCain."
Is he running for President or practicing a stand-up comedy routine? I know a lot of "stuff", do you think he would consider me as his running mate? Maybe I could reign him in a bit.

What Right to Health Care?
We all hear people complaining about their right to health care. I was asked "Where in the Constitution does it say there is not a right to health care?" I hate questions like that, it's like trying to prove a negative. If you are to use that argument then anything and everything is constitutional, unless it is specifically prohibited by the Constitution. That's hogwash, if you ask me.
I came across this article, written by Neal Boortz on Townhall today which explains, in 200 words, why health care is not guaranteed by the Constitution. I wonder how many 1200+ word comments he will receive telling him how wrong he is.

Time to Boycott Absolut?

This is an ad run by the vodka maker Absolut. Basically they are depicting the "perfect world" with the southwest portion of the US being part of Mexico. I don't drink vodka, but if I ever have to purchase vodka for a party I'll buy a different brand. For more on this story click here.

There is more good news about the progress being made in Iraq. We probably won't hear much about it from the MSM. It wasn't in my newspaper today. For more click here.
A reader tried to post a link in a comment but for some reason the link isn't working. The article is a little long but worth the read. Ed Kaitz describes the liberals and what he calls Doublethink, such as "Diversity is Unity!" It's very interesting and gives a lot of historical perspective.
Jeffrey Anderson writing for Townhall does a nice job of describing the problems with the Democrat's health care plans in The American Dream, Democratic style. If you want some perspective on the amount we're paying in taxes today to what people paid back in 1943 read Facts About the Tax by Rich Tucker.
Now it's time for me to go out and do my part to keep this economy of ours going. Have a great Saturday!

Ridiculous News of the Day
A new report shows that global temperatures have not risen in the past ten years, yet they keep arguing that there is global warming. They won't give it up unti the next ice age.
UPDATE: For more on this subject click here and here.
Now we know why Hillary didn't want to release her tax returns. $109 Million in 7 years (yes, you read that right)! They gave about $10 Million to charity, which is better than Barack Obama. But if she is so concerned about poor people, why not practice what she preaches and give up all of that money other than say, $1 Million per year?
Nancy Pelosi actually had the nerve to issue a warning to General David Patraeus about his upcoming testimony. Who does she think she is? That's just outrageous. As if she knows more about what's going on in Iraq than he does? Give me a break!
Townhall.com has a lot of good articles out today. If you only have time for one I recommend If Hypocrisy Were an Energy Source We Could Drill in Congress. It's just another example of the absurdity of the current Congress.

Liberalism and Freedom do not Mix!
liberalism. (n.d.).
In the twentieth century, a viewpoint or ideology associated with free political institutions and religious toleration, as well as support for a strong role of government in regulating capitalism and constructing the welfare state. (The American Heritage® New Dictionary of Cultural Literacy, Third Edition. Retrieved April 03, 2008, from Dictionary.com website).
free·dom: noun
1 : the quality or state of being free: as a : the absence of necessity, coercion, or constraint in choice or action b : liberation from slavery or restraint or from the power of another c : the quality or state of being exempt or released from something onerous. (Merriam-Webster's Dictionary of Law. Retrieved April 03, 2008, from Dictionary.com website).
I do not believe that the definition of liberalism goes far enough in describing the modern day liberals. But take a look at the two definitions and then try to figure out how you can have liberalism and still have freedom. It can't be done.
How can you have "the absence of necessity, coercion or constraint in choice or action" or "liberation from slavery or restraint from the power of another" under liberal policies? You can't!
Liberals want to mandate what kind of light bulbs you may use. They forbid access natural resources, forcing us to conduct business with our enemies. They have said that if the oil companies don't invest in alternative energy they will take their profits and do it for them.
They will "go after your wages" or "tax the wealthy" to pay for national health care. They expect people who saved money, bought affordable homes and pay their mortgages to pay their hard earned money to bail out their neighbors that did everything wrong. They have forced mortgage companies to lend money to people who are not credit-worthy, and then told those same mortgage companies that they have to write off their losses.
They want to institute the "fairness doctrine" whereby radio stations will be forced to give equal airtime to unpopular (thereby unprofitable) progams to those that are popular (and thereby profitable). They're all for freedom of choice, unless you choose to own a gun to protect yourself.
The more socialist programs they put in place means you work more for the benefit of others, rather than the benefit of yourself and your family. Their policies have driven up the price of your grocery bill.
The only thing they hate spending your hard earned dollars on is the military. They want to weaken the military, thereby weakening our country and putting your freedom in peril. They are more concerned with what the rest of the world thinks of us than they are with protecting us from the rest of the world.
Don't buy in to what they are trying to sell you. It's worse than snake oil.

Angry journalists have started a web site where they can anonymously complain about anything that frustrates them. They mainly hate their bosses and competition from bloggers!
I know you will find this hard to believe, but Bill Clinton went on a tirade the other day at a fund raiser for Hillary. That's so unlike him.
The media keeps blaming "predatory lenders" for causing all of the problems with the mortgage industry. Don't buy into it until you read this article. Again, liberal government policies have not only failed to solve a problem, but have created newer, bigger problems for the folks. Here is a related story about lefties harrassing the children of bankers. It's so typical.
America hating Jeremiah Wright has a new McMansion in a white bread neighborhood. If white people are so horrible why does he chose to live among them? Read the story here.
Barry Obama is getting testy on the campaing trail. He could have avoided the whole thing if he just let the guy take a picture.
In an interview liberal loon Ted Turner said that the Iraqi insurgents are patriots. He also said that global warming is going to make us all cannibals. Will he volunteer to be the first dinner?

How to Reply to a Lefty
As luck would have it, my blog was recently visited by a friend on the left who was nice enough to give me lots of examples of what may come up when you get backed into a corner, talking politics, by someone with whom you disagree. He gave me so many examples that I may not have time to address them all. If you would like to read the entire exchange click here. Let me also clarify that I am posting this for my conservative friends who have been cornered, and weren't quite sure how to respond. I am not doing so to be mean to the commenter.
When it comes to the Constitution I will re-iterate that there are many on the left that believe that if something is not explicitly spelled out in the Constitution as being un-Constitutional that it must thereby be Constitutional. Because rape isn't mentioned in the Constitution doesn't make it Constitutional. We could argue these points all day.
When I mentioned that Saddam Hussein used WMD on the Kurds he replied that "Hundreds of dictators slaughter thousands of people each year. Why aren't (we) you clamoring for the US to overthrow...." I didn't mean that we went into Iraq to save the Kurds, my point was only that Saddam Hussein had WMD and used them. But in reply, I would say that by his logic we should never have gone into Europe during WWII. Germany didn't attack us, Japan did.
He wrote that the US government gave Iran chemical weapons. That is a lie, plain and simple. There were some US chemical companies (now out of business) that may have sold chemicals to Iraq. And prior to our invasion of Iraq, contrary to what those on the left would tell you, the entire world believed Saddam Hussein was a threat, as did the previous Democratic administration.
Maybe telling someone to move to France is a bit harsh. I just think that people who want to live in a socialist country might find Europe a better fit than the United States of America.
If my visitor had read my blog regularly he would have found a post with a link to an article that details the progress we have made in Iraq.
The history books I've read have told me that from the 1950's to the 1980's the Soviets and communists were a real threat to freedom-loving people everywhere. They used brutality to enforce their "utopian" ideals. The "democratically elected Iranian government" in 1953 was a communist government allied with the Soviets, so the CIA assisted in the toppling of that government. And no, I have not said that I think Jimmy Carter should have invaded Iran, but he could have done something to help a US ally. Maybe he would have avoided the hostage crisis that humiliated him so.
In closing, they will make things up, omit other things and then get upset if you tell them to move to France. Keep up your guard and if you're lucky you won't get stuck in that corner!
