Is anyone else out there getting a little bit sick of politics lately? This presidential primary season is getting so old.
The Democrats whine when debate moderators have the nerve to ask them questions. Then they argue over who is better friends with terrorists. John McCain is sort of lying low, waiting to tell us who he's going to pick to be his running mate and thinking of ways to respond when the Democrats really start attacking him.
Pennsylvanians must be really tired of it. A friend of mine from PA said some Obama people came knocking at her door. That would really annoy me. They should be required to wear big signs that say "Obama Campaign Worker", so you can turn off the lights and pretend you're not home when they come knocking. Thankfully for all of you in PA, after tomorrow you'll just be a shrinking image in their rear-view mirrors.
I'm going to ignore politics for the rest of this evening. I'm going to go outside and enjoy this spring day, my family and my life. I hope you do, too!

Good News
One universal truth is that we are all getting older. The only alternative to aging certainly isn't a good option, so we just need to accept the fact that we aren't getting any younger.
Now for the good news, a recent study concluded that the older we get, the happier we get. So stop worrying about getting older. Go out, enjoy your life and be happy!

Battle Hymn of the Republic
I was listening to Rush Limbaugh in the car this afternoon and he played the Battle Hymn of the Republic. I never can sing along to that song without getting choked up. I thought I would post the lyrics for you all, it really is a beautiful song.
Mine eyes have seen the glory of the coming of the Lord;
He is trampling out the vintage where the grapes of wrath are stored;
He hath loos’d the fateful light-ning of His terrible swift sword,
His truth is marching on.
Glory, glory Hallelujah!
Glory, glory Hallelujah!
Glory, glory Hallelujah!
His truth is marching on.
I have seen Him in the watch-fires of a hundred circling camps;
They have builded HIm an altar in the evening dews and damps;
I can read His righteous sentence by the dim and flaring lamps,
His day is marching on.
Glory, glory Hallelujah!
Glory, glory Hallelujah!
Glory, glory Hallelujah!
His truth is marching on.
Amen!
Words by Julia Ward Howe. Julia Ward was the wife of a doctor serving the American Civil War.

Democrats are Helping McCain
If you only read one political article today, I recommend James Madison to America: This is what we Warned you About by Jerry Bowyer. He reminds us of Federalist #10 which warns us of the dangers of factionalism, which is now running amok in the Democratic party.
Speaking of the Democrats, I was happy to miss their debate last night. Unfortunately, I had to hear about it on the news and the radio today, so I wasn't entirely spared. From what I heard Hillary won, but really, who cares?
I was pleasantly surprised to learn that Charles Gibson and George Stephanopolous from ABC News actually asked some tough questions of the candidates. Good for them. I heard the question Gibson asked Obama about raising the capital gains tax. He said that Bill Clinton lowered it from 28% to 20% and revenues went up, then George W. Bush lowered it to 15% and revenues went up again. Obama then had to revert to his usual Marxist theology by saying basically that some hedge fund managers make too much money and it's just not fair. Blah, blah, blah.
Things are looking better and better for John McCain. The longer the Democrats battle, the more they show their true colors to the American people. That's never good news for Democrats.

Congress is Worse than Useless
To say our current Congress is useless is really giving them too much credit. You see, if they did absolutely nothing it would be preferable to when they do something. It seems that everything they do just creates more problems, which of course they then blame on someone else.
They pretend to care about the American people, but they don't. All they care about is partisan politics and elections. That's it.
The things they should do, like voting on judicial nominees and getting out of the way of actual solutions to our energy problems, they refuse to do. So things just get worse and prices of energy continue to skyrocket. Then when they do things, like mandates and subsidies for ethanol, they just drive up the price of food world wide.
You'll keep hearing them talking about the big bad oil companies and evil CEO's making lots of money. But you'll never hear them admit blame for all of the problems they create.
John Sanders wrote a good piece on Townhall today describing all of the problems they have created. Also on Townhall, Mario Diaz asks when they will stop the nonsense and vote on President Bush's judicial nominees. That's an easy one-they won't! They are absurd. They want to fight Bush on anything and everything. Even if they were to agree with him on something they will oppose him just for the sake of opposing him. Look at the trade deal with Columbia. That deal is advantageous to the US, but they'll oppose it simply to oppose President Bush.
This Congress has taken absurdity to a whole new level, all in the name of partisan politics. They ought to be ashamed, but they aren't.

Who are you Calling Elitist?
I found this interesting blog post, this guy scoped out the Getty fundraiser for Barack Obama last week. He posted lots of pictures of the mansion, the millionaires/billionaires and Obama's arrival. It's interesting that Obama says he hasn't raised any campaign cash from oil companies, but raked in a few million at the Getty fundraiser. Click Here for this very interesting look at how the other half lives.

Hey All You Gun Toting Racists!
Do you live in a small town in America? If so, there is a Democratic presidential candidate that thinks you are nothing more than a bitter, bible thumping, gun toting, clingy bigot. At least that's what he tells his $2400 per plate San Francisco supporters.
He's such a complete left-wing elitist, he's making Hillary look like a conservative. To go out and show how much like us small town folks she is, Hillary guzzled some beer and then threw down a shot of whiskey. So of course, Sen. Obama called her Annie Oakley.
To my fellow conservatives I say "Just sit back and enjoy the show."

There He Goes Again
Barack Obama's marxist drumbeat continues. He is pushing a bill to place corporate executives under more scrutiny. He complains that CEO's make more in a day than workers make in a year and says that the time to act is now.
This is class warfare at it's best. If I work for a company that doesn't pay me what I'm worth I am free to go find another job. If stockholders don't believe in the management of a corporation they are free to invest their money elsewhere. It's that simple.
Where on earth does he believe he gets the authority to push such a bill? Why isn't he denouncing the high pay of movie stars even when the movies flop at the box office? Why isn't he denouncing the high pay of trial lawyers who raise the price of prescription medications, medical care and just about everything else one can think of? Oh yeah, I forgot, they're big donors to his campaign.
This is America. It is not up to the government to decide how much money corporations can pay their executives, or any employee for that matter. To those who say that our country was not founded on capitalist principles, I give you the words of Thomas Jefferson:

"To take from one, because it is thought his own industry and that of his fathers has acquired too much, in order to spare to others, who, or whose fathers, have not exercised equal industry and skill, is to violate arbitrarily the first principle of association, the guarantee to everyone the free exercise of his industry and the fruits acquired by it."

Random Thoughts
Is Colin Powell a Democrat?
Where is Zell Miller?
If the economy is so bad, how can hundreds of thousands of Americans afford to be stranded in airports? Who bought their tickets?
If Hillary Clinton tells a big fat lie in the woods, and nobody hears her, is it still a big fat lie?
Will John McCain change his mind about drilling in Alaska?
Why has it taken so long for Democrats to realize that China isn't nice? Didn't Hillary know this when her husband was supplying them with missile technology?
When the truckers slow down to protest high oil prices, what do they think they will gain? Aren't they just burning more gas?
If you're an aspiring politician, are you using sound judgment when you choose to go to dinner at the home of known terrorists?
When is global warming going to come to Upstate New York? I'm cold!

Obamawania
Could Obamamania be turning into Obamawania? A new poll shows that John McCain has all but eliminated Obama's lead in the polls.
The pollsters are saying the extended Democratic primary is creating divisions in their party and many Democrats have said that they woud rather vote for McCain than either Obama or Hillary. I'm sure the primary is not helping the Democrat party, but I don't think that explains Obama's slide in the national polls.
I believe that normal, non-partisan Americans are finding Obama less palatable the more they hear about him. Every time you turn around there's another mis-step by the Obama campaign. The other day Michelle Obama said that more people deserve a bigger piece of the pie. Most Americans believe that they create their own pie and don't want the government taking any more of their pie. How much is left for crying out loud? And who can forget her saying that she was never proud of her country until after a bunch of people voted for her husband. I could go on and on. Even though the MSM isn't reporting everything it's impossible for them to keep the genie out of the bottle from now until November.
Then we have Obama himself and his speeches. Every time he mentions the greatness of our country, he has to throw in a qualifier. We could be better, we aren't perfect, blah blah blah. How many times do the American people need to her "Yes, we are a good country, but...."?
Just the other day at a fund raiser Obama's campaign was calling for more white people for a photo-op. I wonder if they asked for "typical white people".
Republicans have said for years that all we need to do to win elections is sit back and let the Democrats self-destruct. The more things change the more they stay the same.
