Site Update

Update: The Lonely Conservative is back - and safer than ever, thanks to Jeremy Sarber!

Jeremy's finished his work, now it's time for me to get to work. The old site should be up and running soon, and will be more secure than ever.

What a Shocker: Charlie Crist Open to Voting for a Democrat Majority Leader

This didn't take long for the tan man former RINO.

The Hill: Florida Gov. Charlie Crist (I) would not say Sunday which party he'd caucus with if elected to the Senate.
Crist, who left the Republican Party this week to pursue an independent bid for the state's open Senate seat, said he would be open to voting for a Democrat as majority leader.
"I'll caucus with the people of Florida," Crist said during an appearance on NBC's "Meet the Press."

What a jerk.

Meet the Hero Who Alerted Police to Times Square Bomb

I believe this man's name is Lance Orton, he's the street vendor in New York City, and a Vietnam veteran. He alerted the police to the bomb in Times Square. His message to New Yorkers is "If you see something, say something." Great advice. This could have turned out really badly.

Hot Air has more on the story. There was speculation that the offices of Viacom were the target because of South Park's depiction of Mohammad. But now it looks like the Taliban is taking credit. The police say that the propane bomb was only moments from going off. That would have been a nightmare.

Update: There's a report that this was a diversion, and a larger attack is scheduled for a later date and time. I hope they're wrong.

Down But Not Out

The website LonelyConservative.com was hit by hackers who installed malware on several pages of code. The site has been taken down temporarily until we can be sure that all malicious code has been removed.

Hopefully the site will be back up and running in a few days. In the meantime, consider this the temporary home of The Lonely Conservative. It feels like moving back into your old place. I'm just glad I didn't delete the old blog.

Posting will be light, I'm a bit under the weather with a nasty cold or mild flu.

Update: Sorry, the site's not looking so good. But hopefully I won't be here long.

Rough Times for TLC

Here's my last post at the main site:

Good grief. There’s only so much a person can take. I got up this morning, showered, gave the kids a bite to eat and was going to sit down, relax and read my newspapers. First I thought I’d turn on the computer and check my emails. When I pulled up this site the malware appeared again and my heart sunk. Jeremy got to work on it right away and it seemed like the problem was fixed, but this time the hackers installed their rotten code on a couple of dozen pages. It looks like Jeremy got that taken care of, and took additional steps to keep it from happening again.

While Jeremy was working on things I was staring helplessly at the computer, and talking to the people at Go Daddy who insisted there was nothing wrong with my site even though I had just received three emails telling me there was. My finger hovered above the “delete blog” button more times than I’d care to admit. But I just couldn’t do it. I couldn’t bring myself to delete thousands of posts and comments. I can’t count the sleepless nights, or the number of 15 hour days between my day job and this blog. I hated the thought of just deleting it all, but it sure was tempting. It’s not like blogging pays well. Days like today it doesn’t pay anything, the rest of the time I may make enough from my ads to buy a twelve pack of Diet Coke. Seriously.

I probably could easily walk away if this was a blog about crafts, sports, entertainment or some other subject that really doesn’t matter in the whole scheme of things. But I just can’t sit idly by watching the radicals who control our government and do nothing. I’m one of those Americans who truly appreciates what our Founders willed to us. I’m not about to watch it all be destroyed without at least having my say.

I can’t thank Jeremy Sarber enough for all of the time he’s put into helping me out with this. Now it’s just a matter of figuring out what to do to make sure the evil hackers can’t get in again. Who knows, maybe it’s fixed, but I’m thinking it’s time for a new web host. Hopefully I can get a refund, because I’m paid up through 2012.

Whatever, as Scarlett O’Hara said, I’ll think about that tomorrow. I was in need of a little break before the hackers struck. You know – life happens. Family members get sick. The kids want to play with their mom. The husband wants to chill out with his wife. And a blogger just needs a break. I think I just need a day. A day to relax. A day to have fun. A day to dance.
