McCain Calls for Drilling

Shock of all shocks! Flip of all flops! Alleluja!

John McCain is calling for the federal government to lift its restrctions on domestic oil exploration and drilling. Of course, Senator Obama called him a flip flopper, which is fine with me. He was wrong before, now he's right and I applaud his decision to flip flop. It's cold again wear I live, but I will wear my fanciest flip flops in honor of Senator McCain. If he keeps talking like this I just may go crazy and send him a campaign contribution!

Welcome aboard the Drill Here, Drill Now, Pay Less bandwagon, Senator McCain! Do you want to sign the petition?

Barack Obama Wants Higher Gas Prices

Here's Barack Obama telling us why high gas prices are good, he just would have preferred a "more gradual adjustment". I guess he hoped nobody would notice. That's attitude is fine for rich folks like him, what about the rest of us?

It's doubtful we will ever convince him to Drill Here, Drill Now, Pay Less; but you can still sign the petition.

Barack Obama Admitted he's Unqualified

After his election to the US Senate, Obama said he was not planning to run on a national ticket because he wasn't qualified. What's he done since to boost his resume? That may have been his last truthful utterance.

According to American Solutions, they now have nearly 670,000 signatures on their Drill Here, Drill Now, Pay Less petition to Congress to finally stop the madness and come up with a sensible energy policy. They are hoping to deliver one million signatures by Independence Day.

You can help, click here to sign the petition.

Tim Russert 1950-2008

It was sad to hear today that Tim Russert passed away while at work. He seemed like a decent guy and he wasn't afraid to conduct a tough interview, no matter who appeared on his show. My heart goes out to his friends and family.

Senator Kay Bailey Hutchison - Good VP Choice?

We're all waiting with baited breath for Senator John McCain to choose a running mate. Has he thought about Senator Kay Bailey Hutchison? I know, she's a senator, but the woman thing will cancel that out. All of those angry Hillary supporters wanting to vote for McCain will go wild!

Not only is she a woman, but she has common sense. Read her article on energy policy. She wants to see the energy resources we Americans are blessed with actually utilized. Perhaps she will be able to convince Senator McCain after a few months on the campaign trail that common sense and sound judgment are qualities American voters really like in a leader.

The Economy According to Barack Obama

The Pope of Hope's been out on the stump touting his plans to save the US economy. His speech on Monday to many Americans probably sounds pretty good. Class Warfare is the new Democratic board game. Oil companies are bad for making a profit while working Americans can't afford to pay for gas. Oh, those big, bad oil companies. He'll show them, he'll decide how much profit they are allowed to keep and take the rest away to distribute to the needy Americans who can't take care of themselves. Heck, he won't let them use their profits to get the oil out of the ground beneath our feet, so why not? Gas lines can be fun!

He talks about the "inequality" of the economic system. Why should some people get to be rich while other people are poor? That's so unfair. We shouldn't "spend" money giving tax breaks to wealthy people. We can all look forward to retiring on Social Security because it allows people to live in dignity in their old age. So what if he doesn't actually know anyone living on Social Security. He's heard it's great. He promises never allow to allow privatization of Social Security. The American people don't need a better return on their money than the government gives them. We certainly can't have prosperous retirees (unless they are union members on the taxpayers dole), the young workers could be envious.

The Messiah then called for another, immediate, economic stimulus package to the tune of $50 Billion. He's so charitable, he must have been donating 60% of his income over the years to help the needy. On the same theme of his generosity with our, I mean, government money, he'll create a $10 billion "Foreclosure Prevention Fund". Those of us who pay our bills will have the privelege of paying for those who don't. Won't that be fun? You can get by on a smaller paycheck! Remember, ask not what your country can do for you, but what you can do for the schmuck who took out a mortgage he couldn't afford.

Lot's of Americans have credit card debt so he's going to put (other people's) money into their pockets. So, your check will shrink a little more paying for your neighbor's iPod. Maybe they'll invite you over to listen to the music they just downloaded.

Of course he understands how hard it is for college graduates to pay off their loans because he and his wife had to pay a lot of money for their Ivy League educations. He'll take more of your, I mean, rich folks' money to give every student $4000 a year to attend college. It's really nice the way he spends our, I mean, government money to help people out.

But don't worry. He knows this all sounds expensive but he believes in "pay as you go". Unfortunately, that's code for "tax the crap out of working Americans as you spend".

I must have been brought up wrong. My parents taught me that taking someone else's money was stealing. They're just so out of it. If Obama is elected there will be no inequality. We'll all be schmucks!

The Tyranny of the Labor Unions

New York Governor David Paterson supports a proposal to set a property tax cap for New Yorkers, limiting it to 4% a year. (In my opinion, that's still too high, but you have to start somewhere.) 71% of New Yorkers are in favor of the proposal. It sounds like a no-brainer to me. If 71% of the people want it, get it done.

Well, hold on a minute. Accrding to the Newsday article Union foes killing property tax cap in NY legislature, the powerful labor and teachers unions aren't about to let this happen. The unions argue that it will hurt the kids. If we don't keep taxing the hell out of every New York homeowner, the kids will suffer.

But Paterson's commission found 71 percent of a district's budget goes to salaries and benefits, mostly for unionized workers, and that despite record state aid _ nearly $1.8 billion this year alone _ property taxes continue to rise. They are now the country's highest at 79 percent above the national average.

Lawmakers facing an election year have little interest in crossing Albany's powerful labor groups, which spend millions of dollars a year in campaign contributions, political support and lobbying. And neither Republican Senate Majority Leader Joseph Bruno nor Sheldon Silver, the Democratic speaker in the Assembly, has supported Paterson's plan.

Heaven forbid we should ask the union members to pay a larger share of their health insurance and retirement costs, like the rest of us do. If you're an aspiring teacher or government employee you should definitely move to New York. You'll enjoy better benefits than your friends and neighbors and here's the best part-it's your friends and neighbors who will pay for it.

Better Buy a Burka

The American Thinker has an article written by Andrew Walden today that every American should read before casting a vote in November. Obama's War details what Obama has said and written regarding foreign policy and his plans should he be elected President. He will bomb our allies and befriend our enemies. Mr. Walden also notes Obama's fondness for Islam and distrust of Christians.

McCain has his faults, I'll be the first to admit. But come on folks, burka's aren't my style.

Drill Here, Drill Now, Pay Less - Update

As of June 5 American Solutions had 350,000 signatures on their petition. They are gaining traction and Sean Hannity and Rush Limbaugh have jumped on Board, according to the American Solutions Blog. If you haven't signed the petition yet, please do so now. It only takes a minute.

On a related note, Senate Republicans thwarted their Democratic colleague's attempts to obliterate the US economy with their "windfall profits tax" and then blame the ensuing damage on Republicans.

We've found the missing weapons of mass descruction-it's the Senate Democrats. We're all standing on billions of barrels of oil while these idiots block any attempt to retrieve that oil, then turn around and point the finger at everyone but themselves for the messes they have created. These people are absolutely beyond belief.

Update: Moments after this post was published Charles Gibson on ABC News announced "The Senate killed the energy bill". Jake Tapper reported "Consumers looking to Congress should look elsewhere" and then showed clips of ridiculous senators trying to get their mugs on TV. The most ridiculous was Claire McCaskill who said "I hope the American people stand up and scream like they've never screamed before." Hey Claire-We are screaming. We're screaming "Drill here! Drill Now! Pay Less!" You just aren't listening.
