Tomorrow is the CPAC convention in Washington, DC. This year (unlike last year) Senator John McCain has agreed to address the convention. Could it be the senator's last chance to win over conservatives?
I heard that he's planning to open his speech with some footage of Ronald Reagan. That's all well and good, but John McCain is not Ronald Reagan. What can John McCain say that will convince conservatives to vote for him in November, if he is the nominee? That his distaste for authority won't extend to the Constitution or the authority of the electorate? That he's willing to appoint Supreme Court Justices that may overturn McCain-Feingold, or deny Constitutional protections to terrorists? That he'll stand up to the liberals on the other side of the aisle?
I believe that most conservatives are forgiving people. Especially if we are shown respect by those who ask for our trust. Senator McCain needs us to win an election. The ball is in his court. Let's see how he plays it.

There are some that will never like McCain no matter what he says or does. These people have some kind of a personal gripe with him. So be it. I think that Talk Radio sees it as a major failing on their part. They can see that some of us older Republicans[fourty years]resent them. I for one will vote for the guy I like for the job. There really wasn't any Hard Core conservatives in this race. Maybe Fred Thompson, but he's the only one.
Some of you will stay home and some will vote for Hillary. I think you should do whatever your heart and head tell you to do.
It was kind of in the cards that this would be a year for the Dems. but then they went and put up Hillary and Obama. I'm thinking they may have made a mistake.

I recall Mitt Romney telling anyone that would listen how much like Ronald Reagan he is. Ronald Reagan he is not. Now I hope that all parties put the Reagan thing to bed. He's dead. He's not gonna come back. I love Reagan and I think he was a great President but that was then and now is now. The world is a different place and forward thinking is the way to go.
Sometimes It seems that the younger Republicans are content with the status quo.
