Suppose all the libs had their way and we withdrew our troops, leaving the Iranians to help themselves to all of that yellowcake? How many of those calling President Bush a liar knew about this? How long have they known it? What other WMD's are still over there that Barack Obama would like to leave in the hands of our enemies? No doubt this little story won't be getting a whole lot of airtime from the main stream media. The last major remnant of Saddam Hussein's nuclear program - a huge stockpile of concentrated natural uranium - reached a Canadian port yesterday to complete a secret U.S. operation that included a two-week airlift from Baghdad and a ship voyage crossing two oceans.
The removal of 550 metric tons of "yellowcake" - the seed material for higher-grade nuclear enrichment - was a significant step toward closing the books on Hussein's nuclear legacy. It also brought relief to U.S. and Iraqi authorities who had worried that the cache would reach insurgents or smugglers crossing to Iran to aid its nuclear ambitions. Read the full story.

Bush Lied?
Democrats for years have been calling for the immediate withdrawal of US forces from Iraq, even the ones who voted for the war. They have accused President Bush of lying so he could start a war. Now we hear:

News to give you pause
In a 5-4 decision, the Supreme Court ruled that it's unconstitutional to impose the death penalty on child rapists. Go ahead and guess which way the court was split! Justice Kennedy believes the death penalty would be cruel and unusual punishment. I don't know what he thinks of child rape-kind and normal?
Nancy Pelosi stated she is in favor of the "Fairness Doctrine". No one listens to liberal talk radio and the Democrats don't like it so they want to force radio stations to air liberal talk show hosts. Never mind the loss to the radio stations in ad revenue. They can force them to air it but they can't make me listen to it.
Barack Obama gave another speech, he said a lot but all it really amounted to was "I'm going to do all I can to keep gas prices really high, so vote for me."
Schools around New York State dismissed today at 11:00 and will do the same tomorrow. The kids have been playing board games. Nothing like wasting a ton of gas in order to keep the federal funds rolling in.
While on the subject of wasting gas, some Wisconsin officials would like to outlaw drive through restaurants due to concerns about global warming. Is there still anyone left out there who truly believes the global warming B.S. isn't just a way for the government to take control of our lives?
Buried somewhere within the 600+ page Senate housing bill (the one that would require the tax payers of America to guarantee mortgages for people who don't pay their bills) is a provision that will require credit card transactions to be reported to the government. Since when is it the government's business where I use my credit card? So, they don't want to listen to terrorists' phone calls, but they do want to know what I bought at the grocery store. I guess they haven't figured out a way to impose a tax on terrorism.

Obama the Collectivist
Barack Obama gave the commencement speech at Wesleyan University. He was calling on the graduates to serve their country and to help those less fortunate than themselves.
He did not speak of strengthening our military or winning in Iraq but he did comment on foreign policy.
He must think he is running for President of the World. About education here at home:
Since when does the President pay teachers? Taxpayers pay teachers. He doesn't call on any of these young people to serve their country by serving in the military.
He even found a way to explain away all of the failed liberal policies and programs, and to convince these young people to go on welfare.
In a nutshell, he believes we should not work for our own living, but for the lives of others. Individuals are nothing, it's the "collective" that's important. Don't support yourself, the government will support you. Don't join the military, in Obama's utopia we won't need one. There are lots of unintended consequences of liberal, socialist policies, but don't worry about that.
Anyone who says Obama is not a socialist is a liar.
Not because you have an obligation to those who are less fortunate, although I believe you do have that obligation. Not because you have a debt to all those who helped you get to where you are today, although I do believe you have that debt to pay.
It's because you have an obligation to yourself. Because our individual salvation depends on collective salvation. Because thinking only about yourself, fulfilling your immediate wants and needs, betrays a poverty of ambition. Because it's only when you hitch your wagon to something larger than yourself that you realize your true potential and discover the role that you'll play in writing the next great chapter in the American story.
He did not speak of strengthening our military or winning in Iraq but he did comment on foreign policy.
As President, I intend to grow the Foreign Service, double the Peace Corps over the next few years, and engage young people of other nations in similar programs, so that we work side by side to take on the common challenges that confront all of humanity.
He must think he is running for President of the World. About education here at home:
I will pay our educators what they deserve, and give them more support, but I will also ask more of them to be mentors to other teachers, and serve in high-need schools and high-need subject areas like math and science. We will need you.
Since when does the President pay teachers? Taxpayers pay teachers. He doesn't call on any of these young people to serve their country by serving in the military.
At a time of war, we need you to work for peace. At a time of inequality, we need you to work for opportunity.
He even found a way to explain away all of the failed liberal policies and programs, and to convince these young people to go on welfare.
And so, understand that, should you take the path of service, should you choose to take up one of these causes as your own, know that you'll experience the occasional frustrations and the occasional failures. Even your successes will be marked by imperfections and unintended consequences. I guarantee you, there will be times when friends or family urge you to pursue more sensible endeavors with more tangible rewards. And there will be times where you will be tempted to take their advice.
In a nutshell, he believes we should not work for our own living, but for the lives of others. Individuals are nothing, it's the "collective" that's important. Don't support yourself, the government will support you. Don't join the military, in Obama's utopia we won't need one. Bush Must be Doing Something Right
"Are We Safer" is an article posted on the Power Line Blog over the weekend. They chronicled terrorist acts against America and American interests going back to 1988. It pretty much debunks Obama's claims that President Bush's policies have made us less safe.
If water boarding a few terrosists for a minute will keep us from getting blown up then I'm a big fan.

Bush's Third Term vs. Carter's Second
Barack Obama and the Democrats keep telling us that if John McCain is elected it will be nothing more than the third term of President George W. Bush.
They fail to mention whose footsteps Obama wants to follow. On the American Thinker is an article by Paul Miller stating that if Obama is elected it will be Jimmy Carter's Second Term. Mr. Miller has done his homework. Obama's campaign hired many former aides and advisors to Jimmy Carter.
He also compares speeches by Obama to those given by Jimmy Carter, they are eerily similar. He rightly points out:
Four years with Obama as President and the Democrats controlling Congress would be a disaster for the United States of America.

When you take an honest look at the advisors Obama has selected, his desire to meet with leaders who promote genocide and rule their nations with an iron-fist, the comparison to Carter is undeniable. When you add the fact that both men are media favorites, place much blame on the way Americans live and support increased government regulation and big government programs instead of the free-market ideas to solve America's ills, the fear that people have that an Obama Presidency would by Carter's second term, is not just a concern, but a harsh reality.

Dan Maffei - Big Thinker?

Washington Insider Dan Maffei moved home from DC to run for Congress. He lost, but that didn't stop him so he's trying again. The DNC has given him lots of money and lots of talking points. In fact, I wonder if any of his "thoughts" are his at all.
His op-ed piece in today's opinion section of the Syracuse Post Standard is titled "Part of 'thinking big' is working for US energy independence". Something tells me he didn't put a whole lot of thought into this.
Maffei opines "If we need any further reminder of how far American power and prestige have fallen over the last eight years, we got it when the Saudis told President Bush they weren't going to lift a finger to help us." Why should they "help us"? Are we helpless? We have our own oil, we just need to get it out of the ground and refine it.
He tells us he is "running for Congress because we need change." Where have we heard that before? Hmmm....change....who said that?
His plan will take "the power away from Big Oil by taxing their huge windfall profits ". Maffei concedes that "not everything we try will work". Really? Like using the taxpayer's money to subsidize biofuels and driving up food prices?
If I were Mr. Maffei I would be very angry with the Democratic party and all of their candidates (and some Republicans, too) for stealing his ideas.
Finally, he promises that if he is "elected to Congress, (he) will never support measures that do not benefit hard-working men and women." If that's the case, he will need to completely abandon his party's platform and his environmental agenda.

Get Ready for the Gas Lines
Yesterday the gang of buffoons we know as Congress passed a bill to sue OPEC over oil prices. These people have no grasp of basic economics. According to the sponsor of the legislation, Rep. Steve Kagen, D-Wisconsin, Americans are "at the mercy" of OPEC. Well, of course we are, you moron! When you won't allow companies to drill for oil here in the US we have to look to other countries to supply our oil. Duh!
According to the White House this sort of action "would likely spur retaliatory action against American interests in those countries and lead to a reduction in oil available to U.S. refiners." That's code for "expect gas lines soon".
Today, to show how much they feel your pain, Congress summoned oil company executives to testify yet again. They put on their little dog and pony show, and again the oil execs tried to explain basic economic principles to these imbeciles. If I weren't so mad I would have laughed it was so ridiculous. If you can stomach it click here for more on this story.
If Congress really cared about gas prices, they would lift the moratorium on drilling for oil here in the US. According to reports, the Bakken Formation could have 3 to 4.3 billion barrels of "undiscovered, technically recoverable oil". Wouldn't it be refreshing to hear them talking about how the oil companies can use their profits to drill for oil and build refineries right here at home? Don't hold your breath.

Utopia?
Some recent stories on Venezuela haven't gotten a whole lot of media attention. Staples such as milk, eggs and sugar have been scarce. On May 2 Reuters reported that Venezuela's President Hugo Chavez "bought" one of Venezuela's largest dairy companies and a refrigeration chain to try to alleviate the food crisis. Reuters ran a similar story on April 29, but again, I don't remember a whole lot of media attention.
I do recall Chavez making headlines a while back when he said he would provide cheap oil to poor Americans. I don't hear much about my neighborhood Citgo station's gas prices being higher than it's nearby competitors, but that's another story. The media only wants to hype stories that make President Bush and the US look bad. They don't want us to hear about the utter failure of socialist governments to "take care of the people".
Chavez, a socialist, has been in power in Venezuela for 10 years. There are government price controls, government planning of milk companies, and rules against free trade. Venezuela's large oil industry is state run. So after 10 years in power and all of that oil money and government planning why are Venezuelans running out of food? Why are there any poor people left in Venezuela? Why can't the people find car parts and paper?
If this is what you want for the United States, by all means, vote for the socialist, I mean Democratic, candidate this fall.

31,000 Scientists Reject Global Warming
I'll be surprised to hear about the 31000 scientists that have rejected global warming from the Main Stream Media. It doesn't fit their agenda or conform to the new religion called Global Climate Change. Will AlGore and Co. call these 31,000 scientists, almost one third of whom have a PhD, a "few skeptics"?

Who are the Communists Supporting?
The Communist Party USA can't officially endorse a candidate, knowing full well if they do it would be like committing political homicide. But I was wondering which candidate they like so I thought I'd check out their web site. Their electoral policy page let's people know where they stand on the election.
While not specifically endorsing any candidate, about Obama they say "Barack Obama’s campaign has so far generated the most excitement, attracted the most votes, most volunteers and the most money. We think the basic reason for this is that his campaign has the clearest message of unity and progressive change, while having a real possibility for victory in November." That sounds like an endorsement to me.
They proudly state their slogan "People before profits" and their goal of a "Bill of Rights Socialism" say it all. Yes, that tells me all I need to know.

Who You Calling Appeaser?
President Bush gave a speech in Israel and in his speech he said "Some seem to believe that we should negotiate with the terrorists and radicals, as if some ingenious argument will persuade them they have been wrong all along."
He didn't specifically name anybody. Why are Barack Obama and his followers so upset about these remarks? I'll tell you why, it's because, Obama has said he will sit down and talk with Iran and he's been endorsed by Hamas. So even if the President did single out Obama or any of the other Democrats, it would have been the truth. The reason they're upset is they don't want you to find out the truth about them.
You can read the full text of the President's speech here.

Gee, Who Knew Cutting Taxes Helps the Economy?
The show Ugly Betty is moving production to New York City, taking advantage of new tax incentives from both the state and city. Governor David Paterson and Mayor Michael Bloomberg announced the news on Monday.
I must give credit where credit is due, and in this instance the Governor and Mayor deserve credit. When taxes are cut you attract businesses, which create jobs and increase revenue. I only hope Governor Paterson pushes for tax (and spending) cuts state-wide.
I keep waiting for Senators Clinton and Schumer to stand up and de-cry these tax cuts for wealthy production companies. Aren't they taking food off my middle class table? Why do they only criticise tax cutting Republicans? Hmmm....could they know deep down in their hearts that tax cuts are good for the economy? I know, keep dreaming.
